B.R.E.A.D.
B.R.E.A.D. stands for Building, Responsibility, Equality, and Dignity. This group works for justice in our local communities by uniting efforts with other congregations. Individuals meet in a small group to discuss possible justice issues and present them to B.R.E.A.D. in the fall.
The Wildcards
We believe that greeting cards are a personal expression, a tool for communication, and a means for building and strengthening relationships. It is our purpose at Christ Lutheran not only to create cards with quality and design but also to create cards with a message. This message does something more than convey the thoughts of the sender; it conveys the light and the love that is found in Jesus Christ. We desire that Christ Lutheran Cards express the love that flows from God’s heart into our hearts and out to the hearts of others. We meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
First English
Volunteers prepare and serve breakfast for those in need on the third Sunday of the month at 8:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church. Join us Saturday to prepare the meal and/or on Sunday to serve the meal.
Food Pantry Volunteers
LSS Food Pantries provide over 2 million meals annually to those experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers assist in receiving and sorting food donations and deliveries, stocking market shelves, greeting clients, and assisting clients as they shop for healthy foods that their families will enjoy. We serve at the food pantry on the second Wednesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Knitwits
Keep your hands busy with this knitting/crocheting group. We knit and crochet items such as prayer shawls, chemo caps, baby blankets, and other items to give to those who are in need of God’s comfort and a physical symbol of a hug from Him. We use new, clean yarns that have been donated from others, and often from ourselves. Lessons are offered to those who would like to learn. Patterns can be found at AllFreeCrochet.com or AllFreeKnitting.com. We have the yarn, needles, and hooks, all we need is you to come and join the fun. We meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
LWR Sewers
Join the “quilting bees” every Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall to create hand-tied quilts that are distributed worldwide through Lutheran World Relief.
Prayer Chain
The importance of the prayer chain is that it faithfully intercedes on behalf of others in need by lifting up specific requests, concerns, and emergency situations. We presently have over 100+ members that can pray for you. If you would like to be part of this powerful ministry or have a prayer request, please contact Jane McKinley.
Restore Elikia
Restore Elikia was started by Will & Nicole O’Brien, members of Christ Lutheran Church. The mission of Restore Elikia is to show God’s grace by providing community development and sustainable orphan support, through the provision of clean water, food, education, and medical care in the Congo. We support Restore Elikia through different activities. If you would like more information about Restore Elikia go to www.restoreelikia.org
Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers assist individuals and families going through times of crisis or transition. The care given by Stephen Ministers is centered around listening to the needs of the individual. Often people in a life-challenging situation become over-whelmed by an event and are unable to focus on their inner selves. Having an opportunity to talk with a Stephen Minister in a safe, trusting environment sometimes helps a person verbalize thoughts and feelings and to be open to spiritual healing. Stephen Ministers have gone through an intensive training program designed to equip them for distinctively Christian, one-on-one caregiving. Stephen Ministers are taught to recognize needs requiring professional help and to refer an individual to appropriate counselors, physicians, or community agencies. To receive assistance, contact Pastor Tim.

Want to make some’s day? A simple “Good Morning” and holding of the door can change a person’s day. Door greeters are needed weekday mornings to greet parents, children, and staff from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
